REVISE FOR YOUR EXAM · 3630QS · teaching from 2025
WJEC GCSE Music Revision
This Made-for-Wales qualification uses a digital appraising examination with questions on chosen set works and unseen extracts. Build listening, notation and vocabulary skills before applying them to your selected music.
For first assessment in summer 2027 (teaching from September 2025). Eduqas is a different specification. Older WJEC GCSE resit students should use their original specification.
Pick a short revision course
Start in Practice, or ask your teacher to set the sequence as homework. Each activity gives feedback; a completed course has one final result code. No account needed.

How this helps with Unit 3: Appraising
Practise recognising musical features and explaining them in short answers. Then use a recording from class to connect those features to a style or context.
Your areas of study
- Musical elements and terminology
- Musical devices and styles
- Chosen set works and unseen extracts
Try this way of thinking
A minor tonality and a quiet dynamic are separate observations. Name each accurately, then explain their effect using the particular extract rather than assuming minor always means sad.
Finish with your board’s music
Follow your centre’s chosen set works and the official digital sample assessment. These activities practise transferable skills, not the WJEC on-screen examination interface or its complete repertoire.
The courses above mark short skill exercises. They do not mark exam essays, assess performance or replace your composition coursework. For creative practice, try Composition Challenge separately from assessed coursework.
Your next 15 minutes
- Choose one skill and complete a short round.
- Read the feedback, then repeat the part you missed.
- Open a class extract or an official paper and apply the skill in context. Explain your answer with musical evidence.
