WJEC A Level Music Revision
The full A Level builds on AS appraising and develops more detailed listening and analysis at A2. Use the harmony and dictation tools to strengthen the skills behind your chosen strands.
WJEC A2 prescribed works change from the 2027 examination. This is the Wales specification, separate from Eduqas A Level.

How this helps with AS Unit 3 and A2 Unit 6: Appraising
Use score and listening evidence together. Try to distinguish an altered chord within a key from a modulation, and relate your description to the musical phrase.
Your areas of study
- AS: The Western Classical Tradition and a selected additional area
- A2: The Western Classical Tradition (Part 2)
- A2: Music of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries
Try this way of thinking
An unexpected chromatic note does not prove the music has changed key. Look for supporting harmony and a cadence in the new key before describing a modulation.
Finish with your board’s music
Revise the AS and A2 material required for your entry and your centre’s chosen strands. A2 set works change for 2027, so check your teacher’s list before using older papers.
The courses above mark short skill exercises. They do not mark exam essays, assess performance or replace your composition coursework. For creative practice, try Composition Challenge separately from assessed coursework.
Your next 15 minutes
- Choose one skill and complete a short round.
- Read the feedback, then repeat the part you missed.
- Open a class extract or an official paper and apply the skill in context. Explain your answer with musical evidence.
